    If you feel that you are struggling to cope don’t keep it to yourself.  Talking to someone, such as a friend, doctor or counsellor may bring you a sense of relief.

    Here at Marjon we can offer you support through a range of services:

    You can visit the Listening Post, which takes place in Reception on the following days/times:

    Monday 1pm – 2pm
    Tuesday 1pm – 2pm
    Wednesday 1pm – 2pm
    Thursday 1pm – 2pm

    NHS 111 / NHS Direct

    NHS Direct provide fast medical help or advice for situations that are not life-threatening. Lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

    Mind

    Mind provides information on mental health, including:

    • Types of mental health problems

    • Where to get help

    • Medication and alternative treatments

    • Advocacy

    Samaritans

    The Samaritans provide confidential support for those experiencing distress or despair. They are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

    Elefriends

    Elefriends is a supportive online community where you can be yourself.  It is a safe place to listen, share and be heard.

    Switchboard, the LGBT+ helpline

    Switchboard is there to support those who identify as LGBT. They are available from 10am–10pm, 365 days a year, to listen to any problems.

    CALM

    CALM is available to men experiencing distressing thoughts and feelings. Their lines are open from 5pm–midnight, 365 days a year. They also have a webchat service from 5pm – midnight every day.

    SANEline

    The SANEline offers emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and carers from 4:30pm – 10:30pm, 365 days a year.

    Students Against Depression

    Students Against Depression is a website offering advice, information, guidance and resources to those affected by low mood, depression and suicidal thinking.

    Relate

    Relate offer a counselling service surrounding problems in relationships. They are open Monday to Thursday from 9am – 9pm and Friday from 9am – 7pm.

    The Zone

    The Zone offers a range of information, advice, counselling and support services to 13 - 25 year olds. They run a Drop In service 6 days a week.

    Harbour

    Harbour is a drug and alcohol service available to anyone, including family and friends, affected by the misuse of drugs or alcohol.

    Devon rape and sexual abuse helpline

    The Devon rape and sexual abuse helpline offers a listening service for people over 16 years, who have been raped or sexually abused. They also offer support for partners, families and friends. Their lines are open Tuesday to Thursday from 7pm -10pm.

    Plymouth Domestic Abuse Service (PDAS)

    PDAS provides support for men, women and children needing advice or protection from domestic abuse.

    First Light (formally Twelves Company)

    First Light are the lead agency for the Plymouth Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). They acknowledge all forms of sexual violence, irrespective of whether the violence is from known or unknown perpetrators or how long ago the abuse happened.

    Papyrus (HOPELineUK)

    Papyrus is the national UK charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. They offer confidential help, advice and support specifically for people aged up to 35. Their opening hours are Mon-Fri 10am-10pm, Weekends 2pm-10pm, Bank holidays 2pm-5pm.
